ARTIST PORTFOLIO
This is a group of selected artworks & details from three series I have worked on since 2012. The selections you see are an overview of each series and depict examples from 2012 until 2022.
PATTERNED PORTRAITS
These paintings grasp to understand the matriarch within a southern heritage of mill workers, child brides, and deeply religious broken homes. The inspiration of this portrait series comes from a memory of peering through the warp and weft of old lace curtains. The layers of patterns in the painting protect and shadow over the countenance of the woman.

LACE MEMORIALS
This series started in response to the unsolved murder cases by the Long Island Serial Killer. Each painting acts as a memorial to the lost.
Her countenance is transformed through figure ground disintegration and reborn through a veil of heavy-laden notions. The lace is a conceptual perspective physically joining the face and the pattern, a protective barrier for the deceased. The photo sources were once casual pictures of the living person, disseminated through the medias re-contextualization of the victim’s fate.

FEARFUL SYMMETRY
Inspired by the captivating beauty of a distant fire and much in line with poet William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience, these works present an amalgamation of aesthetic beauty with a perilous undercurrent. Created by superimposing vintage photographs into images of current events and destinations, these derivative Oil paintings juxtapose the innocent, idyllic world of youth against the reality of our current societal milieu. Two different perspectives in one image seek to find a common thread of innocence and experience through paint.
